I got my hands on the blue EG and I am in love with it. Also should have a Flat Head here at some point but that is under wraps for now.

It's being shipped from Japan at the end of next week, so you'll have it in less than two weeks.
Retail is $410 on it and it comes in a wooden box that's been laser engraved.
Don't worry about the price, we'll hook it up for you.

I was only at the first Greenbay. Come to think of it I was at the first Viva and the first Rockabilly Rebel weekend. Damn I feel old.

I would love a well fitted hawaiian.

What fabric are they usually made from? Are there any details that would make them different from a regular camp shirt aside from the print?

Really old ones are Silk and Cotton Barkcloth. Newer ones are made of rayon I believe. I like the barkcloth ones cause they are easier to maintain.

A lot of the coveted 50s ones are rayon as well. Basically just try to avoid synthetics (rayon is man-made not synthetic btw). I also prefer the barkcloth because I like the texture, it's light but stays away from sticking to your body, like seersucker. Refer to the other Hawaiian shirt thread for more history/info.

You'll know a real hawaiian shirt when you see one. The print shirts look cheap even when compared to even modern hawaiian shirts. I consider "real" hawaiian shirts to me made in "Hawaii" which the tag will clearly say. In the 1950s manufacturers began adding the phrase "Made in Hawaii" to their garment labels. (the idea allegedly came from a trade commissioner from Los Angeles during a visit to Hawaii in 1950). "Made in Hawaii" allowed true aloha wear to stand out in a market that was being flooded by cheap imitations and mail order garments. Believe me you will be able to easily pick out the real deal.
