Has anyone ever tried this gin?

I've never seen it before today, but it looks intersting.

Had a martini made with this recently. Pretty good, but hard to call it gin since its more fruity (has limes I think).

Lately I've succumbed to the Hendricks craze. I guess I'm not really a "hard core" gin drinker because I like a lighter botanicals flavor like Hendricks has. That said, if I'm doing a G&T I like something with more taste to it, like a Bombay Sapphire or something like that.

Never had (or seen) North Shore. I'd like to try it, but to date, Junipero is the best. Certainly superior to Tanq, Hendricks, Beefeaters, etc.

If you're actively interested, I'd proxy for you. But, what's the point, if you're already happy w/ what you drink.

Yes North Shore is truly excellent, better than both Junipero and Hendricks in my opinion. Although there are two types of North Shore... there is No. 6 and No. 11 both are wonderful... I admit to liking the cheaper No. 6 the best.

I couldn't begin to tell you which is better. I love them both.

No. 6 is so so so so so smooth. It's got a nice balance of citrus, spice, and floral.

No. 11 was originally only produced and sold to bars. It got so popular they made it available to the public. It's a really full gin. There's a huge juniper flavor. The floral notes are still there, and tastable, but they do take a back seat to the juniper.
Since you're such a big fan of junipero, which has a pretty assertive juniper flavor, you might like #11 more.

#6 got a 94 and #11 got a 95 from the Beverage Tasting Institute in 08.

Old Raj is fantastic, but expensive. Great, great stuff though. Normally, we use Beefeater or Boodles, depending on what my wife grabs at the store.

Dawg, I checked out that site (thanks for the links) and found the Cask 16 for $98. I just bought it for $60 locally. Do you think the prices are inflated all along the board?

Nope. When you told me that it was $60, and I thought it was a $100 bottle, this was the place I was basing my price off of. I don't understand that at all. Almost all the prices are totally reasonable. North Shore is about $30/750 mL anywhere I've seen it, which is probably 6-8 different stores and 2 online retailers. I've never seen it under $27.

It's mind bottling.

Tanqueray Rangpur Lime is awful.

Hendricks, Plymouth, Sapphire. Would like to try Junipero and I'll have to look into North Shore.

Can't say I've ever had gin on the rocks before. My favorite gin for mixing in cocktails (other than the Martini and variants) is Martin Miller, while my favorite gin for Martinis and other nearly-neat applications is Junipero. Sapphire goes in my G&Ts, and Beefeater in my Aviations (why, I don't know). Old Raj and North Shore are on my hitlist, and I've tried Bluecoat which is quite nice but need more experience with. ~ H

Of all the brands that you might actually have a shot of seeing on a bar menu, Hendrick's is by far my favourite for simple cocktails without a lot of mixers or straight up. My first time drinking it was a revelation of, "OHhhhh so this is what gin is supposed to taste like."

I have to disagree with you. Hendrick's is not a very typical gin at all IMO and should not be propped up as a standard bearer for an ideal gin. The writing on the bottle itself says as much. It is a sort of spin on gin, much like Rangpur is gin PLUS limes. All things considered, I do very much enjoy Hendrick's, but would refuse to call it an ideal for what gin is "supposed to taste like."

North Shore #6 is citrusy and not very heavy on the juniper. It is definately a mellow and nuanced gin. Junipero, on the other hand, has a bit more of a juniper bite to it. I much prefer Junipero, but I did enjoy my NS#6 very much.
