The Basculante is great, I'm a big fan of the design. Rach2jlc has an amazing limited edition one in a steely grey.

Wow nice!! BTW, I love a curved end strap, I have several for my Speedy, the race pictured above and this one.

They don't seem contrived to me, just another option for straps.

This particular model was part of a limited series of 100 pcs. that was sold through Stowa's forum on watchuseek late last year but isn't shipping until now. I didn't get one in the original buy (IIRC the 100 watches sold out in less than 1 hour!) but was lucky enough to buy the reservation for this from the original buyer who didn't want it anyway.

I am in no way an expert in watches but wondering how does this watch compare (The Stowa) to the ARCHIMEDE Pilot? Price, features, future appreciation and quality?

I am very satisfied with the quality of the Stowa and I think the quality is far better than the price implies so I have no hesitation in recommending them to others. FWIW, I own Rolex, Jaeger-LeCoultre and IWC watches as well and while I would say they are the all better finish and quality compared to the Stowa, they are also x 10-15 more expensive which they are IMO not really worth by any objective measures (but I am keeping them anyway

I have one of the run of ninety B-Uhr that Archimede produced with the manual Junghans 687 movement as the Pilot Original Limited Edition:

I'm going to have a custom strap made for it from Russia "Calf," which is a whole other story to be told later...

At any rate, my comments about the movement would be useless unless you get one of the 90 watches with the 687. It's a nice, creamy manual movement that so far tells great time.

The crystal on mine is also replaced with a domed sapphire crystal which I think looks better.

Overall, the case and aesthetics are very nice, and I prefer owning this relatively cheap watch compared to the Byzantine pilot designs put out by, say, IWC now. I love the graphic simplicity of this particular watch...I would not get a version that had a brand name on the dial, and Archimede is one of the few sources for a watch like that.

So, thumbs up.
