T-shirts under suit jackets

For those of you who sometimes like to dress down a suit with a t-shirt, what kinds of t-shirts do you prefer? I find that 100% cotton shirts, even in great colors, just don't seem up to the task of supporting a suit. What are your favorite kinds of T's to sport under a suit jacket, and where do you get them?

I think that look is kind of ****. Something like Stone Cold Steve Austin would do when he "dresses up."

T-shirts don't belong under a suit jacket.

Wear a polo shirt but don't do the T-shirt.
You need some form of collared shirt to protect your jacket from perspiration.
T-shirt with jacket was always a ridiculous look.

I really don't see what is so bad about this, I do it frequently in the summer. It is not a "look" I am just wearing a t-shirt, over it I am wearing a jacket. The weather is frequently changeable enough here that going out for the day wearing just a t-shirt can be silly and a jacket is more versatile than a jumper.

You answered your own question. The reason you can't find one that works is because there isn't one that works. This is just a bad look.

For something that is not a look it sure looks like a look and an old look at that. Wearing a light weight cotton button up shares the same purpose of the t-shirt but it looks more polished. I mean, its not a really bid deal but I am somewhat tired of people doing it.

A tee-shirt with suit look can work, but it needs to be something from the likes of Dior Homme or something equally youthful and designer-y.

Ah, I slightly misunderstood the thread, I thought it was a t-shirt with any odd jacket, I do that. I don't do t-shirt with a suit.
I think it can be done and look fine, but not by most people, and not by me. It has to be a pretty up to date slim cut suit for a start, probably in a pretty slick fabric too.

What do you mean by "designer-y?" Like something with a little sheen to it, maybe, such as silk, or a really fine pima cotton, perhaps? I've seen lots of people pulling off this look. I think it has something to do with the quality and material of the t-shirt.

At the same time, I do get Nexus6's point about perspiration at the collar.

I am referring to the suit. Do not attempt this with Jos A.Banks or if your waist is larger than your inseam.
