I don't deign to be as good a photographer as bigbris, but these are my full brogues. Fantastic shoes. Would easily buy another two. However, since I seem to be the only Canadian getting charged customs (that'll be at least $70 for one; $140 for the two) I might have to restrict myself to only one on the re-order. Then again, with the price increase, even one will be close to $300 CAD with customs. I've got some thinking to do in the next few days....

That's my dilemna too. I see to be one of the lucky ones like you...even though it's a good deal at the price it is, it's just not a killer deal that I would jump on without thought (to no fault of TRL, of course)

Those are some sleek looking brogues!

Why don't you Canadian guys get someone to proxy for you? That has to be less than $70, or was that $70CAD

Just a heads up, I e-mailed Richard and asked "...if the shoe(s) we pre-ordered wasn't selected for production would we have the opportunity to place orders on the shoes that will be produced?". I indicated I was only going to purchase two pairs of shoes even though I liked a few more styles but I didn't want to screw up his initial pre-order counts. Here was his response:

Yes, you'll certainly have the opportunity to select different styles. However, I think the two you have chosen are pretty safe bets.

Please do not hesitate to respond to this email if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,

Richard
As an FYI, my "safe bets" are the half brogue snuff suede and half brogue willow calf. I guess that's a good sign that a production run is going to happen.

Going to get

Chukka in tobacco suede
Penny in brown suede
Half brogue in light brown suede

Still thinking about more.

For those people starting a shoe rotation, this is a great deal. I've heard it often remarked that cheaper suede is acceptable, as thier just isn't as much difference between mid and high then compared to leather.

Is this true? Can anyone else comment on it? I was thinking about getting the Half Brogue Snuff Suede, but might opt for the Half Brogue Willow Calf if that is the case...

Looking at Somatoform's pics of the suede full brogues - are they on a different last than the black leather full brogues? They look sleeker and more narrow, but it could just be the angle.

Also if anyone could speak to the question posed a few posts back about the conversion to C&J last 348 sizing, I would appreciate it also.

It's just the pic - they're not that sleek and narrow.

12UK: 12.75 inches long and almost 4.5 inches wide. The toe narrows in more than other shoes I have so it gives the impression of being alot narrower than it is. Fit wise, there's alot of width there.

Just today I received my burnished monks proxied by an SF member. Same size, same measurements, but they feel slightly tighter in width than the brogues (maybe the difference in material?), but still fit nicely.

I pre-selected those half-brogue snuff suede shoes as well. They're pretty badass.

In case you need another comparison: my RLPL 'Rivington' 13D measure the same length (12.75) and a quarter of an inch narrower (4.25)

I wish they were offering black captoes and/or Chelsea boots.

edit: i'm planning on getting the brown monkstraps if that makes any difference.

Any further advice on sizing? Are they true to size on length and width? I'm a 7.5-8 G but am thinking of going 8F, or if they are willing to make wide widths, 7.5 or 8G.

Thanks

Yes they will make G widths.

I emailed Richard asking and this was his response

"Yes, this is possible. Because G is not an option on the back-order page I'll need you to send me an email directly at: [email protected] stating:

Your full name
Contact details
Shoe choice
Size and width fitting

Kind regards,

Richard"
