73 last

Assuming that Herring's size chart is correct, then I would order an 8.5 from them. My measured size is 9.5 and I fit into a US 9 in Church's, with that last.

Adrian Herring is quite helpful, send him a mail. But your assumption should be correct

As an alternative, I can undercut Herrings or anyone else.
I can offer in size UK8.5 the following shoes from Church's:
1. Church's Chelmsford brown Nevada- brogue shoe $270 including shipping
2. Church's Carlisle brown calf leather chukka boot with diamond rubber sole $300 including shipping
3. Church's Chelmsford polished binder s/wood colour $270 including shipping
4. Church's Gunthorpe brown Nevada $315 including shipping these are $470 on Herrings not including their shipping!!!
All 4 are perfect and not seconds and prices include shipping from London to the US.

A little about me:
I have just joined styleforum so cannot post for 45 days I believe. But I do have a large stock of Church's, Cheaney, Grenson, Crockett and Jones, Trickers, John Lobb, Barkers etc etc. I can also try to source what anyone wants in terms of style, size, colour, brand etc from any of these traditional Northampton shoemakers.
My ebay detailed feedback shows some comments (100% positive name: drahluwalia) although most of my sales are privately done via paypal to the US, Japan and Europe.
My prices are way way lower than others and all shoes are perfect unless clearly stated as seconds or imperfect.
I have been buying premium Northampton shoes for years and it started with my own huge collection. i can source them now at massive discounts and it helps being very nearby in North London!
I look forward to being able to trade here when I am allowed to post in 45 days or anyone can contact me till then with requests etc.
Thanks.

That last is very unelegant and blobby in the sort of "I drive a tram and a member of conductors union sorta way".
I would resort to buying Church's if no other shoes are available at similar price. Take any British shoes before you take Church's.
