Bought a very nice pair of loafers. Now my wife is in doubt. She thinks that the tassels doesn't fit with my age.

She is a very lovely lady. But is she right? Are loafers with tassels not for me? (age 52).
Please your reactions.

Never heard this before. I've always associated tassels with old men.

Tassel loafers were made for 52 year old men.

Never heard this before either - in fact the common complaint is that they make people look old.

I'm going to wear tassle loafers today and I'm sure I'll get an 'old man shoes' comment.

I don't think it's true, but generally what I hear is that tassles tend to make you look older, not younger.

Buy them...wear them...enjoy them. I'm a bit older than you and have three pair of tassels in my shoe rotation...and am considering a fourth pair!

I'm in my mid-30's and I shamlessly wear my AE Maxfield tasseled loafers to work and to social events.

I would think tasselled loafers were associated with older people, not youngsters.

That said young french ultra-conservatives wore them as an identifying mark at some point, or so I have heard.

Young 52 year old men, specifically.

As others have mentioned, they definitely have an "older guy" connotation.

If you like them, wear them.
