I'd rather see an ugly square-toed shoe than these

There is a salesman at LA Fitness who wears these. He is about 5'5 with the ego of Napolean. He accompanies those beautiful shoes with a velvet pinstripe blazer. I call him "Hollywood" all the time, and he thinks it is a compliment..it is a riot. He also drives a "BEEWONG" bright blue Nissan 350z which he parks directly out front of the gym. You guys would love to see this spectacle.

The reason people may like to wear square toes shoes is that they fit the human foot better. Take a look at your grandparents’ feet and learn what pointy footed shoes can do to you over many years of wearing them. It’s your vanity that will give you painful bunions and painful walks later in life. Those of you that continue to shove your feet into pointy shoes, you’ll learn firsthand what your grandparents are learning now.

My feet don't look like squares. While I see your point about excessively pointy/narrow shoes, I can't see how a square toe would accommodate my foot any better than, say, a traditional round toe.

Ever seen Birkenstocks? The natural position of your toes is a point straight in front of your foot. Your large toe is not suppose to point inward towards your other smaller toes such as when you wear pointed shoes. A wide square toe shoes give your toes more room to widen out and won't squeeze laterally.

I have some Testoni's in a similar shape, which are wonderful.
It just proves that, thankfully, we don't all wear the same stuff, otherwise this forum would simply be called "forum".
I agree with the dislike of square toed shoes though

Don't get me wrong, I'm no great fan of pointy shoes. But I still don't see how the square toe is accomplishing something the traditional round toe isn't.

Another thing to point out about "pointy" shoes is that they are also typically elongated, so your toes end where the shoe is still wide enough to accommodate them, and the shoe narrows beyond. That's why most shoes measure around 1.5-2" longer than the foot they envelop.

I don't know how to post pictures from the web but take a look at drawing #3 at the bottom of this page.

Do you get it now?
