Found hidden treasure??

hey guys, you seem to know a lot about watches. i have one i really like but never wear it, don't know why. going thru some old stuff i found my father-in-law's watches (he's still healthy and alive but he must have just given us all his watches). there was a basic rolex in there but also this one:

any way to tell how old it is? how much does it cost to fix the stem that is missing (or maybe just the winder). it still ticks when you jiggle it. any help?

I have one very similar to this from my father - it was dated 1973

the omega vintage watch finder is done at the moment - but you can look there when its up

Lance, I'm no Omega expert but I would say that it's not worth a great amount of money but it is, nonetheless, a classic Omega Seamaster. These usually sell on Timezone for a few hundred dollars, if I remember correctly (I haven't looked for a while).

You would need to have the crystal replaced as it's pretty badly scratched, along with the winder.

If you would like to keep it instead of selling it, it would make a nice daily-wear watch as it is a pleasantly simple style that goes with pretty much everything.

thanks. i wasn't looking to sell it at all, just curious of the value. he's 85 so it could be anywhere in there

Great watch.

Fixing the crown costs around $50. If you have it done, have the watchmaker get you the serial number when he opens the case. With the serial you can go to the omega website and find out the vintage of the watch.
