Cracked watch strap

So I got a Seiko in the mail today and put it on. I might have been a little too aggressive with the strap and at one of the joints on the band (it is calf) it sort of cracked, i.e. you can see the insides of the leather.

I don't mind the aesthetics of this because it is only noticeable when you stretch that joint, but as far as durability, is the watch compromised? I don't want the thing falling apart while I'm wearing it.

I got it from seiyajapan, which the board says is a reliable source, so no I don't think I got a fake.

I would contact him (Seiya). I got my Seiko from him but never had issues, but from what I've heard, his customer service is superlative. He will likely just give you a new watch or strap.

Ya I mean I don't even really care that much about it. I'm just not sure whether the band is likely to just tear through or not. As long as that wouldn't happen I'm fine with it.
