Visit the Lobb factory store, and you'll understand the phrase "John Lobb abortions" much better. Whoever is the sartorial equivalent of Eric Rudolph is probably plotting right now.

I suppose it could help. My college years in Boston sadly never once took me aboard a sailboat. Thus, I have no idea if the idea of Lobb boat shoes is respected or not.

You should be happy that your thread made it as far as it did without being derailed. Such is SF.

Hopefully I'll be able to come back to this thread in a few months to post some type of transformation, but mine is nowhere near complete(just starting actually) so I wouldn't dare post anything right now.

Well I haven't been on style forum for long enough to claim an evolution since I started reading here, I had been gently evolving myself for about the last three years, the main thing moving away from ghastly shirts for going out in, fortunately for more formal stuff a uniform for school and a fairly old school dad didn't allow me to stray too far. In fact my evolution has been more of a case of moving away from what my parents made me wear as a kid (ie actually nice clothes), through an indie phase and a just uch phase and back again.
I couldn't get a great selection of photos but the general drift is there, somewhere between school and Uni there should be some of me in black jeans, indie t shirts and an ex army jacket.
From SF I hope to get better at judging fit on jackets and at wearing more interesting colours/patterns and matching them.
Anyway:
Some point during school:

Early first year at Uni:

Late first year at uni:

Some time during a break in my second year:

Now, my 4th year:

The sharpeyed might spot the shoulders on my jacket are not ideal, and something is funky with the left one, when I have the money and time it will be seeing a tailor.

This photograph almost made me cry...there is something about it that makes you look like a young grimslade.

I haven't been around long enough to tell whether I should be flattered or offended by this, care to clarify?

If I should be offended where am I going wrong in your opinion?

I heard the trick is down to the way they hold the knife, if he comes at you held point down you should be ok, if they hold it point out like a fencer you better have something up your sleeve.
