Any of you read GQ Magazine?

I always browse through them in the stores and sniff the sample cologne, but i never buy it. Its only $4, but I dont know if i should buy if I can just come on here

It's ok to learn the basics, but too dumbed down and too trendy on many issues.

It's the best of the bunch with respect to the men's magazines. It may be fashion forward for some, but just pick up any other men's magazine and you will realize that it's actually more classic than most. Subscriptions are quite cheap. I believe it's $12 per year, rather than $4 per magazine.

I get it as I enjoy reading magazines over breakfast/lunch. I got my subscription for $10 a year, so at that price, you aren't risking much.

Some of their fashion stuff is better than others, but overall I usually enjoy reading the issues. 81 cents of enjoyment at least.

I let my subscription lapse a while ago although I buy it at the airport if I need something for a flight.

It has become very stale and calculated. I buy Japan's Leon and Men's Ex now for lots of great looks and inspiration.

I'll have to pick up Leon. What is Men's Ex? I'm not familiar with that.

I think you've been sniffing a lot of that cologne, PoloRalph/Executive/HighSociety.

Esquire is better by a mile. I flip thru 80% of GQ w/o reading it. I read a alot of the Esquire articles. Much funnier too, IMO.

I'd agree with just buying the subscription it's a huge discount. On another note, anyone know of a place in NYC where I can purchase Men's Ex or Leon?

I used to read the UK edition, but it's really awful. I used to like Boris Johnson and AA Gill's columns, and the guy who wrote the style advice column was good because he was iconoclastic and funny... but the rest was unspeakable. There are only so many interviews with Paul Smith / features on how to be James Bond / profiles of society girls whose father the editor wants to suck up to that one can take.

The French version is dire, avoid.

Nice usage of the "-1". I had only seen the "+1". I used to subscribe to both (I believe a year of Esquire was $6, or something ridiculously cheap). I think Esquire has improved recently and is currently better than it was a few years ago. I think GQ has declined slightly in the last few years, but I prefer GQ, including the articles. Both are miles above some of the other trash out there.

I used some Coke rewards points to get a free year of GQ recently. Haven't received the first issue yet.

Yes as well as Esquire (both continent versions) when ever at the airport for light reading.. Then always ask my self why?

But they do fill in time & I did learn a lot from my formative years (pre-internet).

I like Men's Ex & LEON, but as I do not read Japanese there is so much I can take it.. Also I notice I get weird looks on the plan or in lunges when flipping through a magazine in Japanese with page after pafe of shoes etc?
