I thought that Altea and RLPL would be more like tier 2 or at least a bit better than some of the other tier 3s. Ted Baker is made in China.

Okay, I'm bored. Ties are my personal passion among any other article of clothing. When I go to stores, I shop almost exclusively in the tie section.. so I'm throwing my two cents in about how each of these rates on the parameters, and reordering the list. This is completely subjective, of course. Except for the fact that I am the EMPEROR of all that is, and you all should really listen to me. If I don't have enough experience with a brand, I'll label it NEI. Someone else please feel free to classify as they see fit I'll leave others who know better to reclassify and rate those. I'm not rating by prices, I've just ignored that parameter. Weight Material Colors Style Patterns Prices Rating Scale 5 = Excellent 4 = Great 3 = Good 2 = Satisfactory 1 = Nothing special Tier 1 Kiton 5 | 5 | 5 | 4 Borrelli 4 | 5 | 5 | 5 Tier 1.5 Hermes 4 | 5 | 5 | 4 Brioni 4 | 5 | 5 | 5 Turnbull & Asser 4 | 5 | 4 | 5 Stefano Ricci 5 | 5 | 4 | 4 RLPL 5 | 4 | 5 | 5 Tier 2 Massimo Bizzocchi 4 | 4 | 5 | 4 Charvet 5 | 4 | 4 | 4 Holliday & Brown 4 | 5 | 4 | 5 Robert Talbott (the sevenfolds and Best of Class lines) 4 | 5 | 4 | 4 Zegna (but not the Villa Bolgheri line) 4 | 4 | 5 | 4 Canali 5 | 4 | 4 | 5 Versace 3 | 5 | 4 | 4 RL Polo (Blue Label) 3 | 4 | 4 | 4 Tier 3 Ike Behar New York 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 Hickey Freeman 4 | 3 | 3 | 2 Prev ranked 1 Attolini NEI Isaia NEI Marinella NEI Prev ranked 2 Breuer NEI Isaia Napoli NEI Nicky of Milan NEI Luciano Barbera NEI Drake (their 50-oz. model is hefty) NEI Bulgari NEI Prev ranked 3 Altea NEI Pucci NEI FIHTies NEI Dolce & Gabbana NEI Zegna Villa Bolgheri line NEI Hugo Boss NEI Faconnable NEI Duchamp NEI Ted Baker NEI Paul Smith NEI Robert Talbott Chelsea line NEI Brooks Brothers NEI Jhane Barnes NEI Vineyard Vines NEI

Hot Action.

Also, I picked up the Oxxford Crest ties at Off 5th for $35 dollars, they are amazing ties.

So, I think this list would be huge, and way to subjective to construct.

I bought this at the Saks sale, too.

No, I judged the weight measure by what is more of a comfortable weight for me. Borelli 7-folds are kind of heavy, maybe a little too much so, for example. In my opinion, Kiton's are on the money in terms of weight. But I guess it's possible that I kind of like heavier ties. Like I said, this is just a list of how well I like these ties.

Huh... my RLPL makes the best knot out of any tie I have except maybe the Kitons. I guess it really is the luck of the pick.

The problem is that ties from makers like Kiton, Borrelli and Brioni can vary quite a bit, so it is hard to rate them. I can say, however, that Stefano Ricci ties are uniformly disgusting: too glossy, too thick, and too wide. They only go with Stefano Ricci clothes, and those are even more disgusting.

I largely dislike Hermes ties, but they've put out some really nice, atypical stuff over the past year (I was tempted, but the prices were too high). Stll, the classic Hermes tie (with little hippos, carriages, or H's) is pretty terrible.

Hmm... one of my favorite ties is a Ricci, woven orange, 4", nice gorilla fist knot, love it... POWER TIE (growl), every job interview I've worn it to nets me an offer.

And chicks go wilds over ze animal pattern (allor!)... my wife doesnt even want me wearing my Hermes around her friends anymore, zey sink I am Franch.
