Panerais are diving watches (for the most part).

+1

Unless this "formal workplace" seems to have a standard watch; i.e. everyone wearing a white faced, uncomplicated stainless timepiece, I would think that anything short of a Jacob & Co blinged out special will probably go unnoticed.

Both. Originally for the italian navy frogmen - military diving watches. Never made a pilot watch though.

A modern Radiomir without radium to fry your nads seems kinda wimpy to me.

Can someone please create an 'Interviewing Wardrobe' thread and sticky it at the top?

On principle, you should not as it doesn't look right with a suit and isn't "right." In practice, no one will care and has been pointed out in this thread, people wear all sorts of watches, no matter how high their pay grade or formal the rest of their clothing.

But if you care, you shouldn't do it.

That said, for months I have been wearing a diver's watch and before that a large chronograph and somewhere in the rotation is a pilot watch as well. But this is a case of do as I say, not as I do.

Agreed. This seems to be the only watch to properly fry your nads these days:

Matathon also seems to be leading the way in the giant-watch arms race. I am thinking of getting one of these to win the big watch (dick) constest at my office:

Well, I was in the RAF for a couple of years and have done a fair few hours at the flying club and I've never seen a pilot wear his watch over his jacket.
More to the point, I think anyone who did that would look fairly ridiculous unless they were wearing goggles and sitting in a Spitfire...

I often wear my IWC pilot watch - along with suit and tie - to my formal (finance) job. The only feedback I´ve gotten has been positive: a couple of watch geeks have asked me where I bought it. Of course, it´s not the big version
