Need opinion on value of $200 Bagliani Suit with Zegna Trofeo/Soltex Cloth

Hi,

I picked up a couple suits at Off Saks upon a recommendation from another customer "in the business" that these suits are a very good deal at $210. I don't know if he thought they were true Zegna suits cause he did pump Zegna very much and it is not truly clear they aren't Zegna's cause of the tags in different spots, but after reading this thread here from someone looking at the same suits, i do realize they are NOT Zegna suits, just Zegna cloth:

The 1 suit is showed here:

The other I bought is similar, but is Soltex cloth, not Trofeo. Both seem like nice suits and fit pretty well, but i am a bit let down from what i originally thought.

Question is, are these still a good deal for $210, or is it just the right price or what? I still have tags on and can return to store if i want, but need to decide today i believe.

Also, Syms just started their "bash" sale today so i may actually do better there and i had tried on some of their Athletic cut suits, which seem to fit my long lean torso almost better than these Bagliani's.

Thanks so much for the advice!

So you liked them until you read about them on the internet? It's hard to recommend what you should do without knowing if you are willing to spend more, when you need to have the suits by, how much you will wear them, if you are a strange size, etc.

I think it's a good deal at $210 for sure if you know that it fits you very well. I actually own one of these (paid about twice what you did) and it has been great, maybe worn it a half dozen or so times. No one would know from 10 paces away that it is not one of my $1k plus suits. But like I said, it fit me like a glove and I had some further adjustments completed by my tailor. I think of the suit as somewhat disposable because of the quality, but for $210 I think it's a safe investment for you if it fits well. But no, it is not a $2k suit that you are stealing for $200 (yeah I was disappointed too LOL).

well, i am sad to say i don't know much when it comes to fashion. However i, like most anyone, can appreciate quality when i have it. It's just not always easy to tell quality from something just by trying it on. personal experience and mftr reputation has a lot to do with it. So, of course, when i found out it was not even made by who i thought it was i was dissapointed. Then to not hear anything good about Bagliani (at first i thought the model of suit was Bagliani, not the maker) i was put off more. The suit is still nice enough but i thought i was getting a real deal for a high end suit which turns out to not be the case as much now....is that so wrong?

I wear suits every day for work, and i like to buy them at a decent price, so no, not willing right now to spend much more than 3-400 for a suit. Maybe that will change later. I am in no rush need for suits and i am not any strange kind of size, just a 42 R/L, maybe Athletic fit style

If $210 is not an unreasonable amount of money for you, and it fits you well, and you are in need of suits, then you got a deal. If you have plenty of suits to rotate and think you could do better (though 210 is very cheap for a suit), then return them and keep looking.

Well, in my opinion if the suit fits well then you've got a good deal. That's a good price for anything made of Trofeo fabric.

I suspect unless you know a good deal about suit construction you're not going to notice or care for much a difference.
