I have a pair and I can safely say they are raw. Also the waist on these jeans is already sized up so a size 34 really has a 35 waist. I have been wearing them for a while and they stretched another inch so hope that helps

Definitely size down one unless you're looking for a relaxed fit. I got my regular size and kind of regret it. They've stretched so much I can take them off without unbuttoning them.
