It is welted, but it's Dainite-soled. I don't know why there's a $40 difference.

Do you know what kind of Welt it is & Who the maker is? From the pic, if you zoom in, it seems like the hand-writing on the inside wall of the shoe suggests CJ....and it seems like it's very similar to the PEMBROKE or SWANSEA model of CJ.

It's not C&J. I'd guess Sargent, although the pattern actually looks like Tricker's. Look at the rear quarters and compare them to the Pembroke. Totally different (and less attractive) lines.

Are you talking about the Wingtip blucher (first URL) or the Wingtip (2md URL)...i'm fairly sure the 2nd one is made by AS. Speculating about the 1st one purely on the writing, what made you say it wasn't?

What kind of Welt is the blucher ?

The first is by Sargent. The welt is goodyear, with a storm lip

#2 is a pure dress shoe, #1 is a chunky, slightly more casual shoe.

The slight differences in BB shoes pricing don't mean anything, they are probably based on incidental differences in wholesale cost. If anything the #1 should be the cheapest.

I was talking about the first. My reasons are outlined in what you quoted.
