My girl and I going to a new year's eve party in Chicago. Nothing to fancy, $75 - $100 a person. Anyway, most people will be rocking black suits and girls will be in their New Year's Eve dresses. I'd like to wear my gray suit because it fits me best. What are rules on gray suits?

the first of grey suits is that there are no rules on grey suits.

I don't think it matters much. Chances are if the suit fits and you have a nice shirt, pocketsquare, tie, shoe combo you'd still look better than 85% of the men there.

Light gray is for daytime but is still an infinitely better choice than black.

What are some good alternatives to tuxedos for New Years Eve? I'm just currently not in the financial situation to purchase one right now and I'm tempted to wear my charcoal grey suit instead.

The rules, as well as several natural laws, don't apply to LK.

Also, the rules don't really apply to 99% of the population since 99% of the population doesn't know the rules. No one will blink an eye at your gray suit.
