How much you would spend on a belt?

Spending over a certain amount on a belt is pointless and the people who do only do so to satisfy a greater, deeper Psychological need.

Calfskin is calfskin, Aligator is Aligator, Silver is silver and Gold is gold. So the logical, economical cut off price would have to be the price at which the preferred materials could be acquired and assembled.

For me it would be 100$ for Deerskin with a decent metal for a buckle.

I find alligator skin etc tacky so a well made "normal" belt works for me and I don't have to spend too much on exotic varieties.

It is possible to find very good Italian belts for $60-70.

Uh, that can be said about nearly every consumer product, and certainly for all products that are "luxury". Perhaps maybe you're not as on point as you suspect you are...

Does anyone have any recommendations for nice, minimalist dress belts with silver-colored hardware? Looking for black and brown (or reversible).

The most expensive belt i bought was one from HERMÈS for about 580USD .. and this would also be my limit. I thinka good price for a belt is about 300usd (like some Gucci, Prada..)

Stinginess is not an admirable quality, you know.

Thanks,

I picked up a Tumi belt at Filene's... retail was maybe $90-100. I paid $25. Given how well it is wearing, I'd probably pay retail for it. I start feeling pretty uneasy much higher than $100 for some reason... though I spent $50 on a pocket square that I'll probably regret.

Man, this place is full of miserly folks.

First, folks want money for proxy, now this. What next?

A belt is probably the only item I have paid full retail price for. I needed a tan one to match my shoes so I was looking for something specific. I ended up paying $195 for a handmade Canali one. I love it but my wife thought I was slightly insane.
