I posed this question over at Ask Andy and received absolutely no response, so I'd also be very interested to know.

I've got a pair and they appear to be pretty well made. However, I know very little about shoes, so any comments that I make should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I'm thinking of getting another pair as they are fairly cheap on the bay and don't look too bad.

So, please any "Shoe Guru's" can you please assist?

I bought two pairs today from the sale on Regent Street, and the salesman told me that they were made to their own lasts and designs 'entirely by hand, by a small firm that also makes shoes in larger numbers for two major luxury brands who are known for their footwear'. Presumed Gucci and perhaps Prada? But other members may know their respective factories...

There are many small (and large) firms in Italy making shoes of quality from mediocre to excellent.

Ferragamo, Prada and Gucci do not -- I think -- make anything themselves anymore, it is all subcontracted. Perhaps Gucci and Prada still have workrooms to make some luggage or something. Prada in particular likes to cut costs and is making (or having made) more and more stuff in China.

It is unlikely it is any of these. It is probably it is some firm we have all never heard of. The Italians pulled off a coup 25 years ago in marketing "Made in Italy" as a sign of quality. There are some wonderful things made in Italy, but also some things that are not. Wear your Aquascrota in good health and let us know how the quality is.

Too bad Aquascrotum did not choose an English firm. Sign of the times.
