He had been playing it at his shows for a while and felt it was time to retire it "in a blaze of glory." And what better venue than Bonnaroo for that? Also he said that he was tired of having people point at him and go, "Oh, there's that ***** guy" while he was walking around in public with his kids. By the time of his final performance, it had become legendary; and the crowd turns it into a giant profane singalong.
