Best product to slick thick hair

I have ridiculously thick and wavy "italian" hair. Its like a mop. It dosent grow back, it just grows out. Lately I have been slicking my hair to the side for that schoolboy look, but the products I have used are sub par. Any advice?

a product called layrite. THe guy who owns my barbershop invented it. The shop is a rockabilly theme place and all the guys have slick backs, pomps, etc... and this is what they use too. I use it but I prefer the "messed up" look and its really hard to manage with that since it is so strong at holding.

I also have thick long hair and the best I have used for slicked back success is American Crew Pomade. Apply a lot to dry hair.

I use to use it and I just bought some more, and it does absolutely nothing for me.
