I have a number of those dirk/small caliber combination weapons. They are really beautiful.

I have considered it, but then CA does not have a concealed carry permit, which defeats the purpose.

Actually, California has no blanket prohibition on concealed carry. Concealed carry permits are issued on a need basis by local law enforcement. In some jurisdictions they are quite easily had. In most urban areas, it is all but impossible. At one time, it was possible to get a permit from a gun-friendly police chief or sheriff even if you did not live in his jurisdiction, but our nanny-state socialist legislature closed that loophole a few years back.

I will certainly take some once I have them sent from storage back in NY. All three have ivory handles

Are the cap and ball black powder or cartridge? I guess they are too valuable to shoot.

I was actually thinking about getting a repro LeMatt revolver for some harmless fun around the property here.

I think these were before cartridges? I'm not sure, I'm not an expert. In comparison to some of the later colonial officer's pistols that I have, they seem quite crude.

Now what I want to do is start collecting some really fine antique swords.

Thanks for the info. If you ever take-up an interest in Victorian and Edwardian Royal Navy swords let me know - I may be able to help you out!

No wonder the Spanish have been on the decline since the introduction of firearms.

I write that, only half-heartedly in jest.
