Well that's pretty good, since it allows you to size way down on some of the more common parka brands and not have the issue of the sleeves being too short. If you're tall and skinny sizing down doesn't always work.

How are arcteryx seen here on the forums? They seem to be very good quality.

I have an acteryx hard shell from a few years ago that is still in perfect condition, I am able to layer a down vest plus a wool jacket underneath it with no problem. I would suggest sizing true as they are designed for active use so fit trim.

They also show up on STP from time to time

Canada Goose is the warmest by far IMO... I recommend the "Constable" parka. I also like Alpha parkas but they are not as warm as CG.

Spiewak is a classic name, and their products are durable and functional as well as stylish.
I know the reason they became famous in Sweden is because one of the useless princesses wore one. Since then every blue blood wannabe had to get their own (and mind you, these things sell for about $650.00).

I'd also be interested if anyone had any experience with the Scapegoat brand.

ditto on all the spiewak supporters here. i've got a doyle coat myself, and it's been keeping me warm so far in chicago. although strangely enough, it has a cotton shell, and i think it may be fading...

If I had to pick one favorite parka it would be Spiewak's Golden Fleece N-3B. I have a vintage one and the quality is exceptional. I'm not sure where they can be found in the US, but imo it's a classic style with very solid construction.

I just got the Spiewak Greenwich Parka from .......... It's grey and exactly what I wanted -- a snorkel made with down, cotton shell rather than shiny nylon. Seems warm. $180 on sale. Oh and I'm 150lbs 6ft, and I sized down to a small and the arms are still long enough.
