I was browsing his store in the meatpacking district on Sunday as I often do, and one of the sales people I usually deal with told me Massimo was there! He then asked me if I wanted to meet him, I of course said yes.

He brought Massimo over and I introduced myself. He's a very nice guy, one of the nicest designers I've ever met. I told him about my neck wear line and he was very impressed that I was focusing on 6 and 7 fold ties. I asked him if he had any advice at all fora young designer like me, he said "Advice? You should be giving me advice! Us older designers all look to the young designers for inspiration". We then talked about my line and men's fashion for the next 10 minutes or so. I gave him my card and he said that he would would check out my website.

My only regret is that I wasn't dressed very nicely when I met him. It was raining all day in NYC on Sunday and I was dressed down at the time. Still, it was a great experience and the highlight of my day.

this is way it's EVER OK to dress down, you never know who your gonna meet. It's crazy because I wear a full suit and tie 5 days a week, and at the very least shoes and sportcoat on the weekends. This was one of the rare days I actually wore sneakers!

Actually saying he was nice is an understatement. It's just amazing to me that someone who has had such success can remain so humble.
