Finally get a chance to see if Burkie can really shape a competitive team, unlike the already very good team he had in Anaheim.

Burke + Wilson + Toronto Media = GOLD, JERRY!

+1. This to me will be the highlight of their reign. Are there two gents more smug in victory or defeat?

I hate the Leafs, so I am very much looking forward to still more mediocrity from them for many, many years to come, Burke or no Burke ...

I like the leafs MUCH better without Sundin, Domi, and their old dickhead coach Pat Quinn. I hated all fo them with a passion!!!!

I was just looking at their coaching roster and noticed that Keith Acton is their ass. coach. He played for the Flyers for several years.

During his interview today Burke said that he was just given "one of the most important jobs in the world". What the **** is wrong with this guy?

He's working in Toronto, what do you expect?

I used to hate the leafs because I thought their fans are pathetic and completely delusional, but now that they're actually getting rid of their old mistakes, I think they can do something positive. Still, unless they can get rid of their ownership, they'll probably remain a mediocre team, like they have been for over 40 years.

Honestly, when he came out and said that, I thought it was hilarious.

If it was another agitator who made those comments it would'nt have been taken so badly, but it sounds like this latest story is the one that broke the camel's back with Avery and his antics both in public and in the locker room.

Not wanting to sound like a defendant to Avery, he rightly deserved this sooner or later. But not solely for this comment alone.

God I hate it when hockey fans and commentators (even players) use the world "class". I love hockey but it has got to be the sport with the least amount of "class". Just look at a bench and you'll see all of them including the coach spitting, blowing their noses onto the ground... if you ever sit behind a bench, you will hear the most foul **** on the face of the earth being said. In the post game interviews, hockey players, and coaches, must be among the dumbest in all of sport. They can talk for 3 minutes and not say anything. It's all the same generic hockey gibberish. I've seen football players and basketball players, not even the brightest ones, give fans some strategic insight into the game that you would never, ever hear in hockey. All they talk about is hustling and working hard. It is so boring to listen to and it's gotten to the point where I mute it unless an actual analyst is talking.

This is a sport where it's perfectly acceptable to clock someone in the face. It's a sport where the dirtiest hits imagineable, like the one from Grier a while ago, is basically allowed. It's a game where mediocre athletes are put onto the ice for the sake of intimidating the ones who can actually play. There is no other sport where these things are allowed. It is an absolute gladiatoral event, and class very rarely features in any of this. Almost all of them have horrible manners. For the hockey world to suddenly get mad at Avery is just ridiculous.
