I'd still have to say Chris Rock for me.
"Bring Tha Pain" has got to be a classic in my book.

Comedian as in stand-up or comedian as in someone who makes a living out of purposefully inducing laughter in others?

He should stick to stand-up and cartoon voices though and stay out of movies.

Chris Rock.
Also should not make movies.

I also really enjoy Russell Peters.

I like young Eddie as well but I go one step in another direction in regards to his movies. He should just let someone have command while he just acts. 48hrs, BH Cop 1 & 2 were good, Boomerang & Harlem Nights were decent.

I love Chris Rock but he just can't act, period. His movie "I think I love my wife" had a lot of good quotes & one liners but once again his acting sucked. His best is during stand up.

Too many to name.

Older comedians: George Carlin, Bill Hicks

Newer: Mitch Hedburg, Daniel Tosh, Dimitri Martin, Zack Galifiniakis

I was facing that same decision. Carlin won due to his longer career.

I think the writers/creators of shows or acts like It's Always Sunny..., Upright Citizen's Brigade, Metalocalypse, Frisky Dingo, Venture Bros etc. are all hilarious and gifted and I appreciate what they do more for some reason. I have seen some great stand-up on stage and on FunnyOrDie.com but it doesn't appeal to me as much. Does my question make more sense now? Are they in completely different columns or are they all in the same category of comedy to you?
