I saw it last night and I have to say I enjoyed it. I read some reviews afterwards and it seems some people weren't happy with the ending while others were comparing it with Annie Hall and Manhattan. I certainly felt it was a little disappointing, but I think that was the point. One girl goes on searching for something she probably won't ever find because she can't even define it, and the other continues with a life which she has the foreknowledge of knowing will be nothing more than plain and ultimately unfulfilling. When the movie ends, you're totally unfulfilled, but so are the characters. It's the opposite of then ending of Manhattan, which ends on an extremely optimistic note.

Overall it's definitely not of the caliber of Manhattan, as the dialog didn't have the wit, but it was an enjoyable movie. My biggest complaint was that I didn't really like the narration.I felt it was a little over-used and I didn't like the voice. I prefer when Woody does it.

What threesome? It was one kiss and the rest was left to your imagination.

Jackass, the point is that the threesome was almost non-existent, despite what I may wish.

I saw the film over a month ago and I enjoyed it too (to my dismay).

It was a good film, much to my surprise. I haven't seen many of Allen's films in the past 10 years (The Mighty Aphrodite did me in), but this was good. I know Match Point was supposed to be good also. I may have to give the pedophile another chance, as a film maker.

I saw this when it opened in theatres....I really liked it a lot but I'm a Woody fan so there isnt much he's done I havent liked (other than Interiors which was a snorefest)

Film made me want to get Tapas for dinner afterwards, and even planted a seed that I might want to go to Barcelona some day.

Barcelona is a beautiful city. Spent a few days there about 4 years ago and haven't been able to shake the need to go back. Now, if I could just do something with the wife and daughter for a month. . . .

This + 1000. I posted about it in the film thread when it came out but no one responded. I LOVED this. A return to some of the older woody movies in that it explored similar themes (like annie hall and manhattan). Really great movie. Probably my favorite i've seen this year. Can be enjoyed by a lot of people because it can just be a fun romantic comedy with a powerhouse cast or a whole lot more if you look deeper. I hear you on not having woody narrate. It's weird, but woody's directing voice definitely shows in the film. It does leave very unfulfilled but i would've thought less of the movie if it ended with both of them getting what they want or something like that. Annie ended this way, so did crimes and misdemeanors and others. As far as not having the level of wit of manhattan/annie or the other similar movies where woody is actually acting, i understand. However, i don't think it was meant to be like that. More about the location, art, and spanish culture than woody's typical wordy style (which i love). I think it worked.
