Crate Denim

I dont know about the Journal (Who can chime in), but the Route is definitely not 8.5, more like 10 or 10.5

speaking of the Routes, been wearing them the past few days and it's a really great jean if you're looking for something that is just supremely comfortable. The denim is lighterweight, about 11oz I'd guess, and it's probably the most comfortable pair of jeans I own. The fit is also perfect if you like a slim jean a la Levis 514, but with nicer finishing and denim. They run true to size, but you could probably size down 1 if you want it to be tight.

Based on which size? If we're talking 32 then that probably wouldn't be too far off. I think on my 34's the rise is 9". Keep in mind that the rise is low, the jeans will sit lower on your waist, and that you'll need to account for more for your hips than your actual waist when sizing. My general advice is to size up one if you want a stretch-to-fit, size up two if you want them to fit out of the box.

I almost lost this thread as it got pushed to page 2 overnight.

The measurement around my hips is like 32.5", so I'd probably have to get a 33 in the Crates and stretch them out. I'm a 30 in most jeans, though.

If you're a 30 in most jeans then I'd go up to a 31 or 32 based on my previous recommendations.

Alright, so I'm definitely going to buy a pair of Crate Routes, but I'm very unsure about sizing. My waist is 33,5 but where my pants usually sit on my hips is 35,3. Would 34 stretch out to fit me nicely, or would it be too tight? Also wondering about where the best place to get them is, revolve has them priced at 137, which seems very OK. Is there somewhere better to get them from? (secretservice?) Edit: typoed 127 instead of 137.

The reason for the sizing "issues" is that people aren't taking into account the rise on the different models; Journals are very low rise, Routes are mid-rise. Therefore, you need to size up on Journals since they'll fit lower on your hips and go true on Routes since they'll sit on your waist. They do stretch out 1-2" after 10-15 wears. Best place to get the Routes is from Secret Service because it's $150 + 25% off.

I would get the 33s for a snug fit, 34 if you want it comfortable and more relaxed from day one. These sit more on your waist, rather than hips. but if you get it direct from S/S then you should have no problem exchanging for a different size.

they quoted me $130 shipped which i'm guessing will be a little better than revolve after you include shipping. i also hear barney's is having a big sale on crates and saw some journals for $89. maybe you'll have the same luck with the routes.

Don't believe Context on the sizing - I was expecting them to be slimmer too. My Routes, at true waist, fit almost exactly like my NS, sized down 2; slim but not significantly tapered. The Routes differ in that the hem is about .25-.5" smaller (7.5-7.75&quot, and the inseam is immense (36&quot. Otherwise, almost identical fit; rise, thighs, knees, hems, etc. Here's the measurements I got from Revolve:
rise: 11"
inseam: 36"
waist: 30.5"
leg opening: 15"

I agree with Get Smart on the weight; definitely lighter than the APC's. Interesting hardware, but fairly sparse. I dig the rivets and especially the button fly, with its UFO shaped buttons. Back pockets are minimalist, which I'm ambivalent about. Not a fan of the tiny bartacking or the weird unfinished top "flap" folded into the pocket. Denim's nice and dark, almost black, with some suble streakiness. I'm pretty happy; I'm still unsure if I'll hem or not, but these seem like a good follow up to my NS.

maybe I'm just a huge idiot/missing something, but does Crate make anything slimmer than the Route?
