Expensive pocket squares

$75 for Hugo Boss squares at Harry Rosen. Ridiculous! If they sold good quality squares for 20/30 bucks, that'd be fair. $75 bucks for a a square foot of silk or linen is idiotic, no matter how beautiful. $125.00 for RLPL is plain silly.

The Wang fellow on here seems to have some great squares for a reasonable price.

I buy all of mine at my local vintage shop. usually no more than Â£2 each, so I can afford to have quite a collection. Considering the fact that I'm 17 and only wear a sportcoat or suit 3-4 times a week, this works out well. I couldn't afford to spend more on these items

RLPLs are quite worth it if you find a nice one.

He does, and I like them. If you compare his squares to more ambitious ones, however, the differences in workmanship are readily apparent. Whether this means anything to a person is another matter, like so much that we discuss here.

Since the spread between the most elaborate squares and the least is maybe $100, as sartorial sins of excess go, the crimes committed in the name of the pocket square are naturally limited in scope.

The nice ones can be few and far between, but once in awhile they come out with something great. The one you picture is a good example, and when they released that one, there were a couple more just as good. Best I have seen yet.

For me a big difference is between squares that are printed to be a pocket square, and have a border or even multiple borders, and ones that look like cuts from a big piece of silk. I'll pay much more for the former than the latter, and generally will not buy the latter at all.

I love the square in Vox's pic, but I have squares that I think are just as good that cost a lot less than $125. I guess I would have to feel the silk and look at the stitching to know for sure.

My cheapest silk square is from Austen Reed on Oxford Street on a lark one day. The silk is flimsy and the hand-rolling is uneven.

I don't know why anyone even bothers to make borderless silk squares.

I have a few RLPL paisley madder squares and they are some of my favorites.

B- when did you order and receive your ties from Hober? I ordered 7 ties at the beginning of June and haven't gotten anything yet.

I think squares, like neckties, is a category where it is easy to go overboard on quantity versus quality, and to victimize one's own style with false economies.

It is great to get a fantastic square at a reasonable price. It's also great to get a fantastic square at a price many would find unreasonable.

True, they have to buy in bulk there, and even then, most of the time they have to use the rubber band with popsicle stick trick.

I just counted. I have 28 squares. Two of the silk ones are indeed lame. The other silk ones range from good to excellent (two in the latter category).

One wool; excellent.

Four BB Irish linen; excellent.

The rest are mostly S&G linen or cotton, all excellent.
