Ya... The incoming WRX is a monster. As quick or quicker than the 2008 STi in many ways.

Thanks, guys. This is my second Itou, and the abalone is just....much better than my slicer, which is water buffalo horn. Abalone is rather thin, so he backed the scales up with charcoal grey corian, which was a good choice, and with red liners!

I can tell you that his prices have been going up, so if you have an opportunity to grab one, even a smaller one, now's the time. If he displayed at, say, the East Coast Custom Knife show in NYC (which I regularly attend), those little paring knives would run $700 and the bid Gyutos over twelve.

Thanks, guys --- sometimes I think that if there wasn't so much (pardon) crap out there, there would be a lot more people making and enjoying things like this, things that bring art into the everyday, things that gave back to the creator and the recipient through the humanity invested. ~H

The WRX is nice but the price I got the 2.5i for was too good to pass up. I'm thinking about getting the windows tinted gray. Huntsman: How can you possibly bring yourself to use that knife on a regular basis?

Easy -- that's what it's maker intended! I remember my father once purchased a hunting knife from a South African knifemaker, at his first U.S. show (it was likely the big ECCKS show in NYC), maybe 5 years ago, and the man asked my father if he would be using it or if he bought it as an investment. My father replied, "both," and this gentleman was very pleased that his work would be used for the purpose he created it for. He explained that he had sold many knives at the show (his workmanship was incredible) and no one yet had any intent of actually using one, and he was a little pained about that. On the other hand, I won't be mistreating in even the most marginal fashion. It will be babied. ~ H

Congrats Huntsman. I've also been eying the new shipment of Itous but it seems the prices have already increased 250% since you bought your slicer a few months ago. I agree that the knives are still a good deal compared to everything else out there.
