Question about silk knot cufflinks

Just a quick and simple question ...

When wearing silk barrel cufflinks such as these,

should one orient the barrel so that it is on the outside of the cuff? That is to say, so that the barrel is constantly visible, and the knot lies hidden between one's arm and body?

I wear silk knots all the time, but I don't like the barrel-shaped ones.

The barrel should face out.

Entirely a question of preference. Purists would probably state that one option 'needs' to be followed over the other, but either is fine.

Personally, I vastly prefer silk knot cufflinks over most alternatives.

I like wearing silk knots as they don't make any noise on the desk/table & I find it adds a nice casual touch.

I don't get the comical or flashy cuff-links..

Silk knots - no.

I recently bought my girlfriend a few pairs of proper cufflinks, telling her "no girlfriend of mine wears silk knot cufflinks".

I'm single now, if any West London girls are looking......

I think most purists would also say that a french-cuff shirt should never be worn casually. However, most of us, including myself, can't afford to be purists. Still, the more you know...

Purists are trend-following fashionistas and are rarely stylish. True men of style, on the other hand, know the rules precisely so that they can bend or break them in interesting ways.

I'm all for silk knots and for french-cuff shirts being worn casually.

Nothing wrong with the monkeypaw, IMHO.

If you've got one with "something special" on one side, I'd say wear that side "out" like you would with metal links.
