Polo Black Label Double Breasted Yes/No

I tried on a Black Label Double Breasted suit today that fit me like a glove. I have a slim build and it looked great on me. That having been said, I'm a bit apprehensive about pulling the trigger given that it's DB and the color is black. With 40% + 15% off, the price seems right, but I don't want to waste the money on something that I might only wear very occasionally. Couple questions:

1) Can I rock a black, DB in a relatively conservative environment or is this something that would be more appropriate for more avant-garde evening events?
2) What kind of shirt/tie combinations could I wear with it?

Single breasted black suits do have their place in the world, even though navy and charcoal would usually be better. I'm not even sure where one wears a DB black suit. Unless it is a "dinner suit" (tuxedo)...

Do you wonder why of all the suits they have left for sale there is the black double breasted suit, and in your size too!

at 55% off. Remember that you are buying the suit and not the label, and the black double breasted will likely just sit in your closet, constantly remind you what a fool you were

Not that it's a big difference, but 40% + 15% is NOT equal to 55% off. It's really 49% off.

40% off $100 = $60. You then take $15 off $60, which is another $9 off, giving you a price of $51 or 49% off.

It's not a charcoal with a gray stripe? I tried on a Black Label double breasted chapcoal suit with a lighter gray stripe at the Mansion that I thought was great. I didn't end up buying it, but I thought it was nice.

I think the Black Label DBs are slick as hell, but a black DB is probably only useful for swank cocktail parties in a city. Ask yourself how many of those you go to.

I'd wear a DB black suit anywhere I'd wear a single breasted black suit.

Black Label DBs are very cool. But yeah, probably not so much in black. Still, if you genuinely like it as a garment, go for it! I find if you love an item, you find reasons to wear it (and vice versa).
