What does everyone here think of wearing shirt collars sitting on top of your jacket lapel?
I spotted a couple of people doing that in a casual setting, and once recently during the day in a proper suit.

Somehow the looks seems rather odd bringing a 70s vibe or wanne-be pimps. Not for me. But is it a look which can work with the right collar or jacket?

Wearing shirt collars above lapels is rather like having a porcupine on the subway. I really can't be more specific than that, so lets just agree that it's a bad idea.

But how much better would this look if the collar was inside the lapels? It can look ok, but I submit having the collar inside the lapels will almost always look better.

The picture here is OK (although you will want to pick your time and place for the Ascot. The world is full of people who do NOT post on clothing forums, but can affect you socially and in business.)

Most of the time, the shirt collar over the coat collar does not work that well. Unless you are truly fashion-inspired, you would want to be careful.
