This Jacket is Ruined Isn't It?

a few months ago i bought this really awesome wrath arcane trench. unfortunately i was caught in a pretty gnarly rainstorm last week and i was wearing it out. i let it hang dry in my room and was greeted with these annoying stains on my formerly sweet jacket.

i'm f!#*!ked aren't i??

that looks just like the salt stains that used to get on everyone boots during winter when i was in college...

was it treated with a wax or resin coat? i'd probably research the best professional cleaners in your area and take it to them for an evaluation. some chemical cleaning process might make it good as new.

what type of fabric is it? Thats just salt and should easily come off if its nylon, polyester, or cotton.

If the material is like those windbreaker type things then a wet cloth would clean it right off. Although I've never seen the stains be that severe.

i believe it's cotton, so dry cleaning is the best solution then?

It rains saltwater in DC?

Definitely consult a cleaner. I'm not sure what those stains are from, but I would guess that the water messed up the coating of the fabric or something. I'm curious, so keep us posted.

I don't know how that could possibly all be salt. Dare I say... taste a bit and see if it is in fact, salt?

Ouch.

I'd go back to the store where you bought it or go back to Wrath Arcane with that. If you're nice about it, at the least, they may be able to tell you what to do to clean it. At the best, they'll tell you it's a defect and replace it.
