and Steven, you mention these are C&J's and on the same last as the plain toe bluchers, but i thought the consensus was that the bluchers were A&S?

The clearance brown bluchers are Alfred Sargent. I bought the brown pair in 10s. I'd say they fit fairly true to size, because my right foot is a 9.5 according to a Brannock device, and they fit just a tad loose.

HOWEVER, i bought the same pair in black in the same size, and they were way too loose. I had to return them. So the size doesn't seem to be consistent.

What is the definitive consensus on these boots? Are they Alfred Sargent or Crockett & Jones?

And I still haven't ordered them for some reason?

Oh man, I would really like a black pair of Dainite soled dress boots for bicycle/motorcycle commutes. I love the higher style of the Sanders George though... Hmm.

I just ordered a pair in black. I'm a "long" 10.5 D and I ordered an 11 D. If it doesn't fit, I'll try and exchange them. My area of upstate New York got snow yesterday; some areas got over a foot!

If anyone else takes possession of a pair in the next day or so and can comment on the fit, please do so.

I'm not convinced the brown plain-toe bluchers on clearance are Crockett and Jones. I bought them, and they look an awful like the Hampton model from Alfred Sargent. They also have a double-row of nails on the heal, not one. http://www.shoes.shoppingsection.co....Category_Code= It's very possible that the similar black plain-toe bluchers being sold by Brooks Brothers is by C & J. I bought the black ones in the same ones as my brown ones, thinking they'd be exactly the same in fit. However the black ones are looser, and I had to return them. I didn't think to check the nails on the heal to see if the matched or not. I just assumed they were inconsistent in sizing.

Then I am mistaken, sorry. Either way they are still a good deal. Also I got a letter from BB yesterday offering 25% off sale. Called up customer service and got an adjustment for the extra %25 off my boots. For $150.00 I dont care if they are A&S!

Shoot, I didn't get a letter about this! And I'm a corporate card holder too...

Probably, but I don't know. For Brooks Brothers, without knowing more, I would always guess Sargent for their current lineup. The chukkas look like another pair of sargents I have. I can tell you within 2 seconds if someone posts a pic of the handwriting on the inner ankle.
