I got it made...

As for Nas being the successor to Rakim...hmmm. Although he's had some great moments and is still going strong after so many years, I'm hard-pressed to see how anything he's done has, on the whole, surpsassed Illmatic. And at that time, although heralded, he was not the second coming of Rakim.

Not sure anything anyone has made since has surpassed Illmatic, Nas is definatly Rakim heir and overall I say superior.

DFdub. I'd like to be into my local scene, but Houston just blows it away. It's all Texas though, and that's what counts.

I'd say Nas owes more to Kool G. Rap than Rakim.

Yeah, hasn't really found his niche, he is at times hard, then he is a ladies man, then he is old school, then he is new and usually they all suck.
