I would think it's chestnut.

But it's always quite difficult to say with EG shoes as they are made from unfinished "˜crust leather'
and get their ultimate colouring as a finished shoe. Hence, what is supposed to be the same colour
can come out quite different, depending on a number of variables.

That's helpful. And we really care about your opinion too.

If they're chestnut, there's something going on with the white balance, because it looks really reddish.

pictures always tricky. My oundle have a redish hint to. but if one looks at centripedes samples http://centipede.web.fc2.com/CATALOG/ORDER/LEATHER/leather.html CHESTNUT ANTIQUE CALF

BURGUNDY ANTIQUE CALF

Does at least seem darker, of not reader. The pictured Oundle is different in shape than mine, so im assuming the poster isnt quite up to date. not 888 last and i don't think bauxlite. But as far as I recal, didn't Bengal order a Bauxite Twickenham?

Thank you all for your helpful replies. Speedster, which last do you think the pictured Oundle is on? Which last do you have? Thanks.

There are quite a lot of E.G. lasts i don't have. mine are on the 888 and the side profile is different as is the opening side of the shoe. More in line with the older ebay mentioned shoe. Side profile is not far of either. could be the 808 though. These older lasts have a different side profile. But Im but a novice... HTH Speed

The shoes, judging by the trees, are the RLPL version, whatever the name was.
My guess, it might be last 89.

Is the Oundle shown in Burgundy Antique or Bauxite Antique?

Thanks!

LOL, that is an old pic I took of my RLPL/EG Wakely monks, predecessor of the Oundle. They were on the 89 last, and were sold as Edwardian Antique, though they were darker than usual. Kabert bought those, I bet he still has them. It's ironic that he is using my pics in an article that slams Vass

Mystery solved? I never would have guessed Edwardian. A Harris, if I wanted a shoe color that looked like the one in the picture, which EG color comes closest?
