I was wondering what would go well with these shoes... I really like the preppy look but haven't gotten into the whole Sperry look...

Thanks in advanced

Are you kidding? Sperry Topsiders go with... anything. Or almost. Certainly anything casual and/or preppy.

Since no one has mentioned belt choices, I'd recommend a canvas belt. I wear a US Navy blue canvas belt with my blue Sperrys. Colorful D-ring canvas belts would be good too.

With all respect, let me venture a contrary opinion. Topsiders, by my jaundiced eye, are some of the most rank-ugly shoes I've ever seen. That I once had the deficit of judgment to actually wear them (albeit a quarter century ago), is a source of great embarrassment.

If you want to go the route of the boat shoe, I much prefer and recommend the canvas model.

I agree with you on which type of shoe to wear when actually boating -- the leather topsiders just don't lace up as tightly as the sneaker/canvas topsiders.

I think we are missing the boat here, if you pardon the pun. We are looking at Topsiders as form, rather than function. They are one of the all-time great summer shoes for hanging out at a lake, on a boat, running to the store real quick for a gallon of milk, etc. Great not for how they look, but for what they offer. Easy wear, slip on slip off, doesn't matter if you get drunk while fishing on the dock and fall in the lake wearing them. For me, they are not a fashion statement and never were.

I live in a wicked hot tropical climate, and some of my favorite shoes are $20 crappy slipons my wife picked up for me somewhere because I use them to run errands everywhere and they are amazingly flexible and comfortable.

(Parker @ June 15 2005,14:20) sperry's go with: windbreaker shorts sailboat tan
rum punch big dog hot blonde
I'm sorry, but which item of clothing does not go with a hot blonde. I thought one of the advantages of the hot blonde as fashion accessory is that you could wear anything and it just would not matter at all.
