Hello all,

After doing a ton of thinking (see http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=77512), I've decided to purchase the Aero Cafe Racer.

I just wanted to get your opinion on sizing. Have you purchased your Aero jacket(s) in the same size as your suit/sportcoat size? Thanks for your help.

That's funny - I thought he was talking about the Saab 9-3 package. Do they still make that?

Best to call Aero directly and they will walk you through the correct sizing.

I was afraid this was going to be about that horrible mall brand Aeropostale.

Sorry for the confusion.

Amanda from Aero and I have exchanged numerous emails back and forth. The thing is, I'm right on the cusp between a 38 and a 40. My suit size is 38S, but she's recommending a 40. She was also nice enough to send me detailed measurements of their 38 and 40 (chest, shoulder to shoulder, sweep, back length, sleeve length). Aero's 38 more closely matches up with the dimensions of a jacket I have that fits really well.

Why not order both, keep the better fitting jacket and send back the other?

I'm afraid it might not be as easy as getting two and returning one -- the sleeves and length would have to be cut to my size, so I don't know if they'd permit it. Or am I wrong?

As far as fit, I'm going for a snug fit. I'd use it for riding, so a tighter fitting jacket is desirable.

Cimabue,
Did you end up getting it in the same size as your suit size?

I got it in a size 40, which is about what I wear in a suit (sometimes long, sometimes regular depending on the cut). As with my Highwayman, I had an inch added to the sleeves and the body, and that's about perfect. In any case, I'm holding my breath till the jacket arrives. A return at this point would feel like an effin' ordeal.

By the way, I ordered mine in black, full quarter horsehide, four zip pockets, nickel hardware and with a red wool tarten (Stewart) liner.

Seeing SF's Tangerine's photos (posted in another thread) of his Cafe Racer convinced me to spend the coin. Something crappy about most of Aero's stock photos that in my opinion make it difficult to see what you really get (does anyone else agree with this?), so back and forth I went. Wasn't sure about that upswept, banded collar either.
