I don't understand the difference between shell cordovan belts sold by Brooks and those sold by Alden dealers. I believe both are made by Alden from Horween shell. Why the price differential?

Thanks.

Alden belts made by Alden, of course.

BB belt is NOT made by Alden.

From reading available reviews about shell cordovan belts from BB, Alden, and Ben Silver, it was my impression that Alden makes the "best" belt.

That said, I personally have a BB shell belt and it has served me quite well. Beware of those touting a "one-piece" shell cordovan belt, as it is most likely not shell cordovan. Genuine shell cordovan are pieced from pieces as no shell cordovan is big enough to make one whole piece.

Actually, Alden does not make their belts. Not sure about BB and BS.

Is this for sure? I saw a whole shell and it looked like it could be over 3 feet wide. If so, you would have to take the belt from the widest point, and it might be wasteful, but I would think it was possible for medium and small lengths.

Alden doesn't make their own belts?

No, some other company does along with their other accessories. Forgot who at the moment.
