Entourage

I think "guilty pleasure" has never been such an apt term for anything else than my appreciation of Entourage. It's juvenile, cliche, repetitive, sexist, and the worst part is that it takes itself so seriously. Yet, I still ******* watch it, every ******* week, and I don't know how or why but I still like it. A lot.

I watched a few episodes on demand and I have to say that I never saw a guy misscast worse that that midget-manager whatever his name is. Is he relative of somone in Hollywood? Cause casting him as a star's manager is beyond bad.
Well something needs to be said about the "star" himself ....He is some sort of inside joke as in: "Let's cast the worst moron with no talent and make the show around him being a star in Hollywood". If that was the original intent then it is funny, i admit.

That is the intent

. The fact that Ari even admits that Vince isn't a good actor in the last episode is a veiled confirmation of Vince's lack of ability.

Ari makes the show. No one plays an asshole and a jerk off like Piven.

Johnny Drama is probably a distant second in terms of characters. Turtle and Lloyd are pretty funny.

However, Eric and Vince are replaceable.

I only watch it now-a-days to see the Ari rants...I can't get enough of them...he makes the show...

To be fair, Eric (the manager) is supposed to be his best friend from when they were kids that he brought out to LA with him, so in that respect, the character himself is supposed to be "miscast" as a Hollywood talent manager. Also, let's not pretend that there aren't plenty of really good-looking stars that are morons with no talent. He's basically Paul Walker, if Paul Walker wanted to do an indie film here and there and was famous for more than 5 minutes. And happened to luck into a big budget superhero feature (Aquaman).

I can't even fathom how people think Drama is a great character. His storyline is so outta whack that it doesn't even hold one grain of truthiness. IMO the show would be markedly improved if they just offed him.

That's the point of Drama. He's supposed to be a loser and washed out actor, and plays a damn good one.

Wrong. Drama is one of the most entertaining characters in the show. I will admit though, the French girlfriend story thread is poor and needs to be ended ASAP (and I think it was in the last ep).

As my someone once told me, we all know that we can't be Vince, we think we are "E" but in reality we're either Drama (egomanical and clueless losers) or Turtle ("Regular Joes" who just punch the time clock).

Wahlberg specifically picked Connolly for the part, but I guess you know more about the business than him, right? Everyone here who hates the show seems to know so much about it. I guess they aren't watching it, they're just magically informed about the writing and characters. As far as the sopranos, saying that the 5th and 6th seasons were better than the first three is ridiculous. I swear, it's such a desperate cliche of this forum to go against anything that's popular, just for the sake of being different-it's more cliche than watching the show like everyone else. It's such an old act.

Going against what's popular? Please. I'm too old to worry about that ****. Have tried to watch the show in each season and it blows each time. Sorry but The Sopranos went from really good to great, with some slight inconsistencies. Entourage suffers from what so many shows post the Sopranos suffer from which is trying too hard. Weeds is a prime example as is The Shield and Rescue Me. There I've said and now I feel better.

I just finished season 4 and I actually liked the finale. Finally Vince has a real problem though it's pretty hilarious that he's not the least bit stressed (and never is) about losing $35M. I haven't watched Season 5 yet since I'm watching it all on DVD.

I think the casting on Vince is great. I was always under the impression that he was supposed to be some guy that looks like he came in off the street, can't act but somehow gets movie deals. He's a representation of 99% of Hollywood.

I'm looking forward to season 5 but for now I have to finish Dexter, which has been backed up on Netflix for 2 weeks.

I agree with this take, though I think in each case it's a matter of degree. I love watching The Shield despite the fact that I'm aware of it's flaws and it often seems to let it's plots devolve into the wildly improbably. Weeds is worse - too improbable too often and overly self-satified. Entourage is way too complacent, and annoying, but it's also light enough to tolerate and it can be entertaining.
