will you be going by yourself or in one of those big organised campus-on-a-bus arrangements with like 50 other Americans?

I enjoyed studying abroad in Geneva. You get to understand the swiss culture (its kind of odd) as well as others since it's perhaps one of the most international cities in Europe. High price, but worth it.

I think for the rest of your life, when in conversations where France comes up and you say 'ya, I did a semester there in college' you will hear a chorus of 'oh yes, me too, where were you?'

I thought you wanted something...different. France is a fairly common place to go, won't really give you an edge on your resume (if, like you said, that's what you're looking for), and is expensive.
If you do decide to go to France, though, please don't go to Paris on one of those 5000 US college kids taking classes with each other and pretending to be abroad while really using Europe as a playground/opportunity to get drunk and be promiscuous. You'll gain nothing and you could be drunk and promiscuous in the US. Go somewhere different, like Rouen, Aix-en-Provence, Calais. You'll experience something different and you won't fall into the trap of associating only with other exchange students.

That being said, I love France and plan on going back many times.

He already makes you look like me. I'd also choose Paris.
