Sometimes you go to a new bar or restaurant alone and talk in a fake English accent. It's subtle, and you are careful to rely more on regional slang then exaggerated phonetics. You don't do it to pick up girls (though you think that would be awesome) or for for the humor value, you genuinely want people to believe you grew up in Bristol and moved to London for the club scene. It never works.

You are a man who makes his own path. You don't care about listening to what's "cool" or "hip" or other people say is "good". This is a good thing because you happen not to listen to any cool, hip or good music. You only left out Toad the Wet Sprocket because your ex-girlfriend has your Toad cds and it makes you feel weird talking about them.

You lost your Etnies logo wallet (you know, the one bar-mitzvah present you actually asked for) at Warped Tour which sucks because you were gonna get a 12 dollar virgin daiquiri for the girl with the dreads in the Catch-22 t shirt. Don't worry dude she was with a chef/ ska drummer 10 years her senior - it wouldn't have gone anywhere.

EMO, jackass! You are responsible.

HA! I guess I have been a bit emo the past few months. I just started to listen to Morrissey, but I think I've been properly shamed into educating myself with the Smiths.

BoO oxford: $250 bucks

Paying a fortune to dress the exact same as you did when you were a mopey shlub in high school: priceless

Protip: Scene girls that sweat The Mars Volta don't care that you saw them when they were still in "an awesome underground band." Stick with girls your own age, buddy.

Sometimes you have instant messenger conversations with art school girls where literally the only things you write are cut and pasted from pitchfork reviews. The really sad thing is this has probably gotten you laid at least once.

Aww that's a cute list. Did your big brother let you borrow his iPod? I bet if you ask nicely he'll let you wear his old Modest Mouse t- shirt and take you to a club with him on a school night.
