I won't get caught up in counting cause it sometimes dismays me, but 4 is certainly not to many as there is a near infinite variety of fabrics, weights, styles and uses. And infinite is certainly more than 4.

Ok,
I have all grey suits and I ordered a navy with a fine chalk stripe yesterday, as for my blazers:
1 Standard 2 button dual vent worsted
1 Cashmere flannel 3/2 button single brested
1 cashmere flannel DB

I am eyeing a new fresco 2 button.

It is also a little lighter in color.

I urge all ye to reconsider the 2 button blazer. Go for three instead. 2 looks too much like a suit coat. 3 is a little more casual and fits the blazer style better.

I have 3 and a 4th is being made. I think that 2 for summer and 2 for winter works well. The 4th is a replacement for one that has worn out...

I'll take the other position. Do you really need* four blazers?

* I realize we don't generally deal with needs here.

My current 2 button blazer looks very much like a blazer as it is a tad shorter than what would be acceptable as a suit coat and it is very shaped.
The other I am eyeing is more out of my unabashed lust for Caruso....

Do I need it...no.

I do wear blazers and sport coats about 2-3 times a week and suits the rest.

I currently wear the one worsted pretty much all the time in the spring and summer due to the weight of the cashmere units. So my logic was if I had a lighterweight version, I would have one to use during the heat of the Chicago summers.
The cashmere units get wear in the fall and winter.
So, if this makes sense, I may just spring for one, otherwise I will get another blue suit. Or, perhaps another grey suit!

I'd get a first blue suit before a fourth blue blazer. But, that's just me.

A more important question than the number of jackets I think, is, what kind of pockets, buttons and how are the cuts? Three flap pocket, 2 dark button navy jackets are pretty redundant almost regardless of fabric and also look more like half suits than anything). I hope you have some patch pockets in there, maybe a throat latch or two and some non-ordinary buttons.

Winter: Navy Caruso cashmere
Navy Corneliani cashmere
Navy Corneliani with faint rust windowpane check cashmere

Summer: Corneliani summer cashmere
Pal Zileri lightweight wool
Casual navy wool with white buttons and brown elbow patches

Heavens, six! I do seem to wear them all regularly though - and no, I don't wear them exclusively.
I could also use a navy linen.
