I purchased them. They were $30, so no biggie, but add on ticketmast fees ($10) and it was creeping up there.

This being NYC, I figure he'll have some. It's at the Blender Theater, which is not only a smallish venue, where I think hip-hop acts do their best, its also 2 blocks away from my apt.

Speaking of good hip hop shows, I saw Gang Starr in Madison, WI (I know, funny) at a very small venue called the Orpheum on State St. It was hands down the best hip hop concert I've ever been to.

Gang Starr is the ****. Guru is the ****. Premie is the ****. I still regularly listen to the Step in the Arena album of theirs. Guru does not get enough props for his lyrics and silky smooth flow. DJ Premier is kindof an unknown superproducer, a lot of people don't know all the popular stuff he has made.

+1 on Gangstarr being awesome. I'm still kicking myself for missing Guru's solo tour when it rolled through Baltimore a couple months back.

I consider dancehall and rap the same music. So I'll add A Who Dem ***** Deh by Cobra, Killa Talk by Bounty Killa, Play Ting Vybz Cartel, the whole Gangsta For Life album by Movado.

I'll get flak for this from the black/caribbean members, but I HATE Movado. I do like Vybz and Bounty Killer

have you listened to the lyrics?? they are horrendous and they barely make sense!! i feel as if people who like rap should put a caveat saying that they really like the beat/production of the song cause the content of what is being said in most rap songs lately is abysmal. To go along with what i just said, the rap songs i do like from current rap is almost soley due to the beat/production. BUT one song that i have been listening to a lot latelly is Biggie, "I got a story to tell." Ridiculous beat with even better lyrics!! 2 examples: "Mac Milli..the Vanilli’s in here.. im a rascal dont get whopped, I get brats who dont give top" "Let the Pistons on that chopper come on cops im kamikaze drop a rock wit them Obamas"

Well he is a bit more a sdinger than a rapper but lyrically he is probaly the most hardcore Dancehall artist.

"Fool dun know de half,
But they love to talk
when mi gun pop off
mi naw here no talk
Mi naw see no head

I'm feeling the remix of that N.E.R.D. song with Kanye and Lupe lately.
