Anyone want to try to ID the watch in this scene from Mad Men? It's 1960 or older, as the sets and props are supposed to be spot on for the vintage. This is from Season 1, Episode 5.

Finally received my PML so I could join the club.

It took 3 months to arrive becuase I wanted a shorter blue strap. Too bad I received a standard black strap instead







What should I do? I am afraid to take off the plastic on the clasp to even try it on. My wrist is about 6.3 inches or so and I REALLY wanted blue.

1) they sent you chocolate?

2) I bet you can get the blue strap sent to you for free considering the screw up.

3) If so, keep the black in unworn condition, should you ever wish to sell your PML.

I love my GO PML. Beyond the finish of the peice, its the movement that has really impressed me. The rotor winds up with ease and finese. You merely put it on - even the instructions say you dont not need to wind it ever (although I do).

Cograts, the GO PML is destined to be an icon in the years to come.

Now I'm saving for a GO Sixties, or if I get lucky a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony.

my bet it's some type of a rolex cellini, current, not vintage.

I found a Breaitling and a Pulsar watch! Well it was while searching my own things for items to give away after some weight loss. I mean clothing items, not the watches. C'mon people, who gives away Breitlings?

Anyway, I came across these yesterday:

The Breitling was bought by me about 10 years ago when I was flush. Then and now I know little about watches. I bought it because it is a chronometerr and I liked the colors! It is a quartz Breitling, and I don't even know if I considered other watches back then:

First here's my dad's mechanical Pulsar:









It's old, and it's nothing special but I love the idea that he wore it and wouhd it every day and now I'm going to do the same. He passed away over 35 years ago. AAMOF, I've been told that the Pulsar mechanicals are much rarer than the quartz Pulsars. What say you watch experrts?

And here's the Breitling. Besutiful colors and looks to me, but what do I know. And believe it or not 10 years ago I didn't even consider mechanical or quartz as a buying decision.

BTW: I love things with a story. My daily watch has been a 1967 Longines Flagship that was given to me by a Dave Rickey (now deceased). He was an Olympic coach who coached 5 Gold Medal winners in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. The Longines Flagship was presented to him after the Modesto Relays of that year and he owned it till he died last year. I'll picture that one when I get a chance.

Yes, I like it a lot.

Before I found my Dad's watch, I was wearing a Longines flagship watch from 1967. It was a 10K gold filled with a Speidel band. Nothing special, but it was given to me by an Olympic track coach who it was given to in 1967. He was a long term friend.

And in the historic 1968 Olympics in Mexico City his team, the Houston Striders, won 5 Gold Medals. It was a big thing back then but today it would be a tremendously huge thing. John Carlos, Tommy Smith, Bob Beaman, and my friend the coach were given these exact same Longines Flagships at the 1967 Modesto relays.

When I get the time, I'll post pics and tell the full story.

Update on my PML strap. Apparently GO sent the PML with the standard black strap to get it to me faster and is sending the shorter blue strap once they receive one. Wow, talk about service!
