these are actually 2nds. i bought them from Shoemart. I read where they are the deposit for alden 2nds, so i emailed them and asked about them. one thing lead to another and was surprised to hear that they had cigar chukkas.
The shoes came packaged in a plain box, not the green one with retail Aldens. there is a "R" stamp on the Alden logo on the sole.
As for the quality of the shoe. sole construction seems to be onpar with retail version. The left shoe, i couldn't find anything wrong. There is some slight discoloration and a slight crease on the instep of the right shoe, but once it is laced up and worn with anything, it is not noticeable.
definitely worth a shot. you can return them if you are not satisfied.
