I'm no expert, but it looks like your shirt may be too tight around the waist; the flare into the skirt looks really dramatic. My guess is that something wonky is going on with how they shaped your pattern to make that funny divot in the back.

From the side, your sleeves look like they were cut in a straight line and don't follow the curve of your arm. My arms are pretty straight as is, so my sleeve doesn't bunch even though it's pretty straight.

many of you confuse "tight fit" with "correct fit"

Also, there is no absolute "see how this shirt looks on this guy? this is how you should look" because bodies can be very different. A 300 lb guy is never going to look anything like the RLBL pinned models but he can certainly get a properly fitting dress shirt.

While self-delusion is always a possibility, I think the shirt fits me very well. I'm not sure where you get your standards from, but it's hard for me to see what you're saying about my it fitting like a 'trash bag'. There is drape in the fabric, but that creates a more relaxed look and keeps the shirt from pulling and bunching when I move. I wouldn't have wanted anything tighter.

My point exactly. I've said it before and I'll say it again: there are more shirts that look bad on SF for being too tight than for being too loose.

mafoofan's shirt fits fine... and it's a good example of a well-fitting shirt. Different people have different ideas on what looks good..

which is why this thread can be really helpful...

Arnach, I would love to see some pictures of your clothes.

I think Mafoofan's shirt looks pretty good, but then again I don't care for skin tight painted on clothing. His shirt looks reasonably close to a nice classic fit for someone of his slim build. A little room to breathe and move is not a bad thing.

A little extra sleeve length is necessary to prevent the sleeves from pulling back to reveal your arms when you reach your arms out or stressing the fabric when you do the same.

If I could make any suggestions for improvement, I would go for a slightly smaller french cuff, not a shorter sleeve though.

If you think his shirt is looks like a trash bag in terms of fit, I think you need to have your eyes examined.

Also, iamatt's shirt looks pretty good. Enough room to move in the upper body but trim enough around the waist for his slim abdomen.

I am acutally quite happy with CT's slim fit shirts.
Maybe not as slim as the regular thin ppl like, but for me, they are trim where it needs to be ( waist, less material in the back, trimer chest, while keep the armholes the same). I will try to post some pics. I picked up like 5 or 6 yesterday for 30 bucks a pop.

iammmat, great looking shirt...Do you have a pic available from the side?

I haven't really created my own opinion of what a *properly* fitting dress shirt is because I haven't had enough experience yet.

To my eye, I like continuous, clean lines...In other words, if the shirt is any bit baggier/blouses over the trousers, it is displeasing to my aesthetic...

How would a clean, continuous line be created without the shirt being "tight fit"?
