I have been using American Crew Clay ( The blue one) with a matte finish. But it doesnt stay well.

Like 2 hours later at work single hairs will be messed up and fall flat. I need a stronger hold but still not hard as gel.

The only clay American Crew makes is the Citrus Mint clay, and that doesn't come in a blue container. Are you talking about the Fiber? I agree it doesn't seem to last very long. Their Forming Cream seems to last a lot longer. It's pretty much the only stuff I use when my hair's shorter.

Gatsby wax is the best I've found so far, I've tried a lot of them.

I use Redken Clay #22 and it works best out all I've tried.

I use Baxter of California pomade.. it works well. I've really only ever used that, I'm pretty happy with it. I might want to switch though, the "herbal mint" smell isn't exactly my favorite.

i second the baxter product
it's actually a clay pomade mix so it has hold properties along with some pomade but i find it mostly matte in finish

if you want something strong, try nolita molding clay

I gotta agree with **** McGee on this one. Gatsby's been solid since I needed to find a new product after Wella discontinued their MattMaxx.
